For workers in Norway: construction, cleaning, hotels, agriculture, shipbuilding and other industries

Make sure you get all of your pay.

Log your working hours on your phone. Timevakt works out what you should be paid under Norwegian rules – minimum wage, overtime, holiday pay – and compares it with your payslip.

Why it matters

Pay mistakes happen more often than you think

Norwegian rules are good – but only if you know what you are entitled to.

Unpaid overtime

Work beyond 9 hours a day or 40 hours a week is overtime, with at least a 40% supplement. It often “disappears” from the payslip.

Pay below the minimum

In construction, cleaning, hotels, agriculture and shipbuilding a minimum wage applies – to everyone, also in foreign companies.

A payslip in Norwegian

It is hard to check your payslip without your own record of hours and without knowing the rules.

Arbeidstilsynet: in 2025, one in five inspected companies broke the rules on overtime pay.

How it works

Three steps – from your first day to the report

All on your phone, in your language.

1

Log your hours

The “Start / Finish work” button or manual entry. Breaks and night work are included.

2

The app calculates by the rules

Minimum wage for your industry, overtime, night supplement and holiday pay – no guessing.

3

Compare with your payslip

Enter the amount from your payslip. You see straight away if anything is missing – and can create a PDF report in Norwegian.

Questions

Questions?

Will my employer know I use the app?

No. All data is stored only on your phone. Nobody else sees it unless you show them the report.

Where do the rates come from?

They are the minimum wages (allmenngjøring) from the Arbeidstilsynet regulations for construction, cleaning, hotels and restaurants, agriculture and shipbuilding. Overtime follows the Working Environment Act, and in shipbuilding its own regulation. In other industries the app works from the rate in your contract.

What if money is missing?

First talk to your employer and show the report. If that does not help, contact SUA (Service Centre for Foreign Workers), Arbeidstilsynet or a trade union.

Is this legal advice?

No. The calculation is a guide. Your contract or collective agreement may give you more than the minimum, e.g. higher supplements.

How do I install the app?

Open app.timevakt.no on your phone. iPhone: Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen. Android: Chrome → menu → Add to Home screen.

How does the free trial work?

In the app, choose “Full version” and enter your name, phone and email. For 14 days you get everything for free. After that the app goes back to the free version – you lose nothing. The full version now costs NOK 49 per month – a promotional price, normally NOK 99.
